Overnight Oats with Chia

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. And so we try to eat breakfast on the regular but it gets boring when you always eat the same. Usually Anni eats Quark mixed with fruit at work. (to find out what Quark is read our Cheesecake post) and Chris loves to make Avocado Bacon an Egg Bagels at the weekends. Now we wanted to mix it up and try something else: Overnight Oats with Chia Seeds and Strawberries. We already tried out Chia Pudding and we wanted to see for which other purposes this little power food is good for.

It’s spring so Strawberries are in season right now! Luckily we have a farmers market in walking distance. Which is perfect to pick up locally grown organic strawberries. They’re so flavorful! We always try to buy Strawberries from Germany where we are located as they’re way tastier than imported ones. Also our carbon footprint is thankful for buying products with short transport ways.

Strawberry Overnight Oats with Chia

Strawberry Overnight Oats with Chia

To make Overnight Oats with Chia you’ll need:

  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1/3 cup chia seeds
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 2 tbsp agave nectar (you can also use honey)
  • 1/2 cup Strawberries (or any other fruit)

Mix the oats and chia seeds with the milk and agave nectar and pour into an airtight container. Store it in the fridge overnight or for at least 4 hours. In the morning you the oats and chia seeds should have turned everything into a pudding like consistency.

Now to the fun part! Cut some strawberries into very fine slices. Take a nice glass and pour in some over the overnight oats. When you reach 1/3 of the glass slide in the strawberries so they get stuck to the glass. Now add more of the oats to fill it up. Top the oats with some strawberries for garnish and you’re all set. Doesn’t it look fancy? You can assemble this professional looking breakfast in less than 5 minutes. This Overnight Oats with Chia Seeds Breakfast recipe will truly impress your family and friends. Enjoy!
