As promised I made a little rug out of my t-shirt yarn. I created a tutorial on how to make t-shirt yarn earlier this month if you need to make some first.
I’m kinda out of the loop when it comes to crochet. I haven’t done it in quiet a while that’s why my rug looks a little…, well let’s call it “edgy”. It’s a fun looking rag rug. I do like all the knots and messiness of it though. It’s going to be our rug for the bathroom. I hope my roommates like it as much as I do 🙂
To Begin:Â Chain 3
Rnd 1:Â 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Sl st in first sc, to join.
Rnd 2:Â ch 1, 2 sc in ea sc around. Sl st in first sc, to join. (12 sc)
Rnd 3:Â ch 1, (sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc) around. Sl st in first sc, to join. (18 sc)
Rnd 4:Â ch 1, (sc in ea of next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc) around. Sl st in first sc, to join. (24 sc) and so on
This is the same pattern that I used for my crochet lens pouch.
It’s basically a standard pattern to crochet a circle.
I kind of kept increasing as needed to keep the piece from curling and ruffling. Â If your rug starts ruffling, you should take it apart and experiment with the increases. If your rug starts curling up, you need more stitches.
When you’re done pull the end through the last loop, pull tight and finish off weaving in the end.
You’re all set and ready to enjoy your DIY T-Shirt-Yarn Crocheted Rug!
