Easy no knead and no rise Bread

This no knead and no rise bread recipe is the easiest thing I’ve ever made. The bread doesn’t need to rise and the oven doesn’t have to be preheated which makes it the easiest and quickest homemade bread I know. The flavour is also quiet delicious and due to using whole wheat flour it’s even healthier than most other breads! Add some seeds and you got yourself a perfect bread for breakfast, lunch or dinner. From start to finish you will need about 1 hour and 5 minutes to make this artisan bread. And the one hour is the baking time! So you can prepare that loaf, pop it in the oven, watch one 60 minutes Episode of whatever series you like (Baking Bread, I mean Breaking Bad 😉 is almost 1 hour long) on Netflix (or Amazon Prime) and take that healthy little fella out. It couldn’t be any easier.

No knit bread

Ingredients:

  • 3 Cups whole wheat spelt flour
  • 2 Cups whole wheat flour
  • 1 pack dry yeast
  • a pinch of salt
  • 2 tbsp vinger (5%)
  • seeds as you wish ( I used sesame and flax seeds)
  • 2 Cups warm water
  • butter for the form
  • some oatmeal

First grease your baking dish of choice with butter and sprinkle oatmeal on top. This will prevent the bread from sticking to your baking dish. I used a casserole dish I like but a dutch oven would also work great for this.

Now mix the dry ingedients and while mixing add the wet ingredients. Mix thoroughly for about 3 minutes. The mixture will be quiet wet which is absolutely nothing to worry about. Add the mix to your baking dish. I like to wet my hands and smoothen the surface of the dough so its gets a nice even crust on top. Stick it in the cold oven and set the temperature to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Now wait 60 minutes and remove your freshly baked bread from the oven.

This feeds two people for a good three to four days and due to it being homemade won’t get hard for a couple of days! You can safe a ton of money by making your own bread. Also you can flavor it with whatever you want.

This homemade bread goes so well with a lot of dishes. We like it for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I made the loaf when we had our vegetarian chili and it went great with it. I don’t know if you knew this but Germans love bread to any occasion possible. Most days German dinners consists of bread, cold cuts and cheese. So we go trough a loaf pretty quickly. The next time I’m baking this I’m going to add some chia seeds to the mix. As you might have seen I just discovered this little seed not too long ago and I enjoy it quiet a bit.
